About Tiger Den Bandhavgarh

We are thrilled to tell you about Tiger’s Den Resort, which is in Bandhavgarh National Park, also known as the “Land of the White Tiger.” It is a beautiful place with lots of greenery and peace. Professionals in the service industry came up with the idea for this resort, designed it, and now run it. The resort has 34 Deluxe and luxury cottage rooms that are beautifully decorated. From the cottages’ balconies, you can see the beautiful and huge hills of the Vindhyanchal range.

The Tiger’s Den Resort is on the edge of a local village called “Tala.” This gives it a location advantage that no other resort has: you can walk a bit to see how people live in an Indian village, where life still moves to the beat of the seasons. There are still places in the world where people still live in simple, mud-brick homes and smoke hookahs while sitting on a cot. These scenes show that time has stopped in these places. Yes, you can walk around the area on your own, go to the local school and talk to the kids there, or walk with a group of excited young people. Visit the local market, which is a collection of shops that sell the things you need every day. Now, walk away from the contrast, and you can see India’s growth over the past three years in an Internet café (please do not expect broadband here yet). Yes, Internet access has finally come here, but right now it’s only in one shop. When you first get here, this part of the world seems very strange to you, but by the time you leave, it feels like an old friend.

Making of Tiger Den Bandhavgarh Resort

Shailendra Tiwari is from Rewa, 100 kilometres from Bandhavgarh. Bandhavgarh was the 19th-century hunting ground of Maharaja Rewa. Shailendra wanted to save Bandhavgarh’s Tigers while the Maharaja hunted them.

After graduating in hotel management, he joined The Taj Group of Hotels, Asia’s largest. 14 years at the Taj taught him plenty. He always wanted a purpose. He searched for it in Rewa. His destiny was nearby. Bandhavgarh captivated him. A dormant volcano seemed to erupt. Found purpose.

In 1998, he bought a tiny plot of land in Bandhavgarh National Park and opened 10 cottages. It opened in April 2000. Instantly full, the resort opened. Demand drove him to expand his resort within months. Add 4 cottages. Within a month, they had to expand. Wildlife lovers persuaded him to install 4 cottages. The resort had 18 cottages. He needed more land and trees. He acquired barren land with no greenery. But he and his colleagues created a tiny forest in his region. He planted 5,000 trees and cultivated them inch-by-inch and foot-by-foot. His trees also grew quickly, possibly he put a lot of love in addition to water and fertiliser. Shailendra’s work makes them proud.

What’s special about this place? His group. His team selection and training warrants a book. His resort’s builders became his employees. Plumber, painter, carpenter enjoyed the purpose they built. Joined him. The guys worked in the restaurant, kitchen, housekeeping, and garden. Staff training followed. He led his team as ship’s captain. He started serving visitors and requested the lads to watch. He taught them to make beds. The squad took notice when they realised he had a mission. They realised they were learning something new and saw a way out. Since this team built the resort, they know it best. They think it’s their resort now. 12 multiskilled staff members took care of guests at Tiger’s Den Resort, exactly as Shailendra did.

Shailendra’s purpose was obvious from the start: to pamper and delight his guests. He believed a hotelier might become a wild lifer, but not vice versa. Same to his team. His local team soon ran smoothly. He’s not surprised by the resort’s compliments today.

Shailendra took clients to the park to study wildlife. His sincere curiosity paid off quickly, and he soon knew more about Bandhavgarh than most.

Shailendra and his staff now draw customers to Tiger’s Den Resort. You’ll feel like you belong at Tiger’s Den Resort. He will share his future plans with you, take your feedback, implement it as soon as possible, and you will say, “Yeah, that was my idea.” So come be a part of an idea, a dream, if you want to be treated like royalty, to feel at home, away from home, then come see Shailendra’s dream, Tiger’s Den Resort, a dream that is now a reality.

Tiger Den Bandhavgarh - Team

Shailendra’s vision for Tiger’s Den was to provide a wonderful experience. Few comprehend and implement it, despite its popularity. In today’s environment, where everything is online, it’s not easy to delight a guest. How do you treat people so they think of Tiger’s Den when they think of Bandhavgarh? Recruiting, training, and retaining the right staff is key. Those who have followed Tiger’s Den for 15 years will notice that most team members are the same. We’ve tried to treat our staff members like we would our guests. The crew exceeded our guests’ expectations, which increased their loyalty. Tiger’s Den Resort treats guests like royalty.

Local Resident Naturalists - Jagat Narain Chaturvedi

Jagat Narain Chaturvedi was born in Bandhavgarh National Park. Bandhavgarh was added to Project Tiger in 1993, and local inhabitants were relocated. After that, he moved to “Tala” on the park’s outskirts. Because he’s walked the Tiger trails before, he knows them well. Tigers adapt, but their pathways remain the same. He’s a naturalist in Bandhavgarh and a fluent English speaker who’s worked for Discovery and National Geographic. Consider his knowledge of local flora and animals. An avid birdwatcher who created a detailed list of Bandhavgarh’s birds.

He keeps you interested during the safari, making your vacation to Bandhavgarh valuable and significant. Bandhavgarh’s vegetation and animals will be thoroughly explained. He’s a walking encyclopaedia on Bandhavgarh’s local treasures because he knows the medicinal value of indigenous flora and their botanical names.

His capable and good intellect will take you to the correct position at the right time to capture live moments with your eyes, mind, and camera.
